After about a month of on and off development I am proud to say that
The black IPA turned from brown to black this week and the little yeast buggies appeared to go to sleep from their partying in my fermenter.
Preliminary taste test shows awesomeness brewed inside. I almost said to heck with bottling and drank a whole bunch as it tasted soooo good. Flash memories of Pacific Northwest CDAs in my head. Think of a malty smooth and hoppy dark IPA with Cascade, Chinook, and Centennial hops for after tones.
I AM EXITE
The 1 Gallon brew kit produced 10×12 ounce bottles of happiness. I’m pretty positive ill be reordering this kit again after my winter stout is done. It is really fantastic. Next time I’ll order a 5 gallon kit though as I’m probably going to go through this quickly once it is ready beginning of September.
The fizz drops are something new to take care of the carbonation this time. Drop one in, add beer, magic fizzy beer comes out. Technically I don’t think this beer needs to be carb’d though. It may have had enough for me during bottling. On my next batch ill leave some not carb’d for a test.
Now we wait. Tick tock, tick tock.
Thanks for reading,
P.S. search ‘black IPA’ on Northern Brewer’s site for a kit of your own.
